Today is Christmas, the birthday of Jesus. For many of us today is also a day of tinsel, trees, presents to be opened, dinner to cook, and for some like myself and my family, miles to be driven to arrive at the homes of family. Whatever today has in store for you please do not lose sight of the real purpose and meaning of the day.
“For a CHILD IS BORN to us, and a son is given to us, and the government is upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 (Douay-Rheims Bible)
Today is a day to remember a promise fulfilled and an opportunity presented. Today Christ was born.
Today our Lord and Savior came among us and as Isaiah prophesized; a Child was born to us and a son was given to us. Because of today we each can have the promise of eternal life that is both real and freely assessable to everyone. Each of us can have a direct and personal relationship our Christ, a gift worth celebrating and worth sharing.
Today is Christmas Day, Merry Christmas everyone.
